Steppenwolf - Magic Carpet Ride

Steppenwolf - Magic Carpet Ride

"Magic Carpet Ride" is a rock song written by John Kay and Rushton Moreve from the Canadian-American hard rock band Steppenwolf. The song was initially released in 1968 on the album The Second. It was the lead single from that album, peaking at number three in the US, and staying in the charts for 16 weeks, longer than any other Steppenwolf song. The song appears in the 1996 film Star Trek: First Contact when Zefram Cochrane (James Cromwell) takes off on his first warp flight in the Phoenix.

Lyrics

I like to dream, yes, yes Right between the sound machine On a cloud of sound I drift in the night Any place it goes is right Goes far, flies near To the stars away from here Well, you don't know what We can find Why don't you come with me little girl On a magic carpet ride Well, you don't know what We can see Why don't you tell your dreams to me Fantasy will set you free Close your eyes girl Look inside girl Let the sound take you away Last night I hold Aladdin's lamp So I wished that I could stay Before the thing could answer me Well, someone came and took the lamp away I looked Around A lousy candle's all I found Well, you don't know what We can find Why don't you come with me little girl On a magic carpet ride Well, you don't know what We can see Why don't you tell your dreams to me Fantasy will set you free Close your eyes girl Look inside girl Let the sound take you away Songwriters: John Kay / Rushton John Moreve Magic Carpet Ride lyrics © Sony/ATV Music Publishing LLC, Universal Music Publishing Group
